Considerable concern was expressed at a recent meeting of the Blackdown Hills Parish Network (BHPN) about the decision by the Blackdown Practice to close their branch sites at Churchinford and Dunkeswell on all afternoons from December 1st. Consultation with those potentially affected by this decision does not appear to have taken place, adding to the concerns being voiced in the communities affected.
It is felt that this proposal will make GP and Pharmacy access for those without transport or working during the mornings very difficult. Worries are also being raised about the future of the Churchinford and Dunkeswell surgeries being in jeopardy, once they are only used half of the time. It is very much hoped that this is not the case because the Blackdown GP Practice is very highly regarded and valued across the Blackdown Hills.
The BHPN is where Parish Councils come together to address issues of common concern to all Blackdown Hills parishes.
