National Highways inform you of some upcoming essential road safety works on the A35 between Honiton and Charmouth. Our work will also include:
• Vegetation clearance, road markings and road studs
• new signs, gateway signs and average speed cameras
Vegetation clearance works will be during the day under two-way traffic lights from 02/11/2026 to 13/11/2026 and we’ll work overnight from 16/11/2026 to 16/03/2027, Monday to Friday, 20:00 to 05:00.
To carry out our work safely, we’ll close the following roads at night
– A35 between New Road Wilmington to Worham Lane from 16/11/26 to 23/11/26 and 19/01/27 to 27/01/27 and 19/02/27 to 23/02/27
– Monkton Road to New Road Wilmington from 24/11/26 to 01/12/26 and 11/01/27 to 18/01/27 and 16/02/27 to 18/02/27
– Worham lane to Abbey Gate from 02/12/26 to 09/12/26 and 28/01/27 to 05/02/27 and 24/02/27 to 01/03/27
– Abbey Gate to Raymonds Hill from 10/12/26 to 14/12/26 and 08/02/27 to 08/02/27 and 02/03/27 to 02/03/27
– Raymonds Hill to Charmouth roundabout from 15/12/26 to 17/12/26 and 09/02/27 to 10/02/27 and 03/03/27 to 03/03/27.
During closures, a fully signed diversion will be in place. Further information about our work can be found using the link to our website.
Access to frontages and for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout.
We’ll make every effort to ensure the impact on the local community and travelling public is kept to a minimum. We always aim to work to the programme, however unforeseen circumstances or adverse weather conditions may mean changes.
